What is Defence Cyber Certification?
Defence Cyber Certification is a comprehensive framework that supports organisations working with the UK defence sector to achieve and demonstrate organisational resilience. Aligned to DEFSTAN 05-138 i4, it allows organisations to pursue a single certification to meet their contractual requirements, rather than individual SAQs. Its requirements encompass a wide range of critical resilience, security, and data protection measures and considerations, including risk management, personnel, and post-incident recovery.
The certification is available in four levels (0–3). ID Cyber Solutions offers Levels 0 and 1.
- Level 0: a questionnaire plus submission of evidence to support answers. This level encompasses three controls and certification must be renewed every three years.
- Level 1: a questionnaire plus submission of evidence, followed by an audit that includes interviews with members of staff and the reviewing of documentation and policies. This level encompasses 101 controls and certification must be renewed every three years.
Certification Prerequisite
To pursue and achieve Defence Cyber Certification, you must have a current Cyber Essentials certificate. Levels 2 and 3 additionally require Cyber Essentials Plus.
